RETIREMENT COMMUNITY

Class and race are common topics in architectural discourse, yet ageism remains largely overlooked. It is crucial to reimagine the value of aging citizens, particularly within New York’s creative community, where aging care options are in high demand. While the Aging in Place movement was a step forward, its focus on suburban, car-dependent models limits broader thinking. The Pegasus Project seeks to offer an alternative to institutionalized elder care by fostering multi-generational communities. It envisions a rural, multi-unit community featuring a spa and event space, supported by neighborhood memberships and rentals. This initiative serves as both a model for elder living and a platform for those dedicated to creating affordable, engaging environments for aging populations.
